Connection Settings for ADSL Ethernet Modem
Windows 2000/XP

Assign the following IP address 10.0.0.1 and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 to the TCP/IP of
the Network card. Click here to view how this is done.

Step1.

Click "Start", move onto "Settings" and select "Network Connections".

Double click "New Connection Wizard".

Click "Next".

Step4.

Select to create a new "Virtual Private Network Connection". Click "Next" when ready.

Step5.

Enter the appropriate company name in the space given and click "Next".

Step6.

Enter the appropriate IP address in the free space given. This is the modem IP address, by default it is set to 10.0.0.138. Click "Next" when ready.

Step7.

Select whether you will be using this connection just for your self or for anyone logging on your computer. Click "Next" when ready.

Step8.

Opt to add a shortcut for your connection onto your desktop and click "Finish".

Step9.

A new icon will be placed on your desktop named "BellNET ADSL", double click on it. And click on "Properties" in order to configure your connection.

Step10.

Your screen should reflect the same settings shown below. IP Address should be set to 10.0.0.138.

Step11.

Select the "Options" tab. Change the "idle time before hanging up" to never.

Select the "Security" tab, and then choose to custom your advanced settings.

Step13.

Upon pressing settings from the previous screen, the following window will popup. Choose to have "Optional Encryption" and select "Unencrypted password (PAP)" from the "Allow these protocols" section. Press "OK" When ready.

Step14.

Select the "Networking" tab & set PPTP VPN as your VPN Type. Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click "Properties". PPP Settings should be "Enable LCP extensions" & "Enable software compression". "Negotiate multi-link for single link connections" should be turned off, click "OK", & then "Close" when ready.

Step15.

Enter your <login name>@bellnet and password. If all settings have been entered correctly, you will be automatically connected to internet upon pressing "Connect".
